Banks Pools was founded by Jack Banks in 1964 as the first Swimming Pool service company in Kansas City. Jack also built 5 to 6 pools a year and pioneered many quality standards for swimming pool construction that are still in use today in the swimming pool industry.
Jack sold the business to Roger Banks, his youngest son, in 1982. Roger and his wife Lynn Banks immediately sought to expand with the incorporation of Banks Pool and Spa Design in 1983 as the construction element of the company.
Roger and Lynn, as Grandma Banks puts it, "took the ball and ran" with both companies. Since its inception, Banks Pool and Spa Design has constructed well over 1,600 swimming pools in the Kansas City area with full-service capabilities from Banks Service Company.
Due to a catastrophic warehouse fire in 2001, Banks Pools was forced to relocate its head office. Disaster turned to good fortune when Roger noticed a local pool retail company was for sale. A deal was made, and Banks Blue Valley Pool and Spa was born. BBPS, founded in 2001, quickly became a beacon of light in the myriad of swimming pool water analysis and a one-stop shop for all your Pool, Spa, and outdoor living needs..
Banks Pools is a third-generation family business owned and operated by Roger and Hoyt Banks. Their son, Hoyt, began his journey with the company at age 14, working summers as a laborer in the construction division. After college, Hoyt joined full-time as the Construction Manager and began purchasing the business in 2015. Now in his 11th year of ownership, Hoyt has successfully transitioned the company into its next generation of leadership.
